130kg front-rower falls inches short of scoring the try every prop dreams of

Reds prop Taniela Tupou came agonisingly close to scoring an incredible solo try against the Western Force in Friday’s Super Rugby AU clash.

The Australian international brushed off two defenders to break clear 30 metres out and showed an impressive turn of pace as he charge towards the try line at the Cbus Super Stadium in Queensland.

The 132kg wrecking ball got to within five metres of the line but as he dived he lost control of the ball just short. Although his teammate Liam Wright gathered possession to dot the ball down the try was not awarded as Tupou as deemed by the referee to have knocked the ball on.

Despite the setback the Reds went on to hammer the Force 5-57 and full match highlights are available below:
