2017 Six Nations: Best of social media from Round Two

Round two of the 2017 Six Nations brought three very differnt games of rugby. Italy were embarrassed by the Irish in Rome, France snatched victory against Scotland in a scrappy game in Paris and England continued their unbeaten run after a dramatic night in Cardiff.

But aside from the action off the pitch, let's take a look at how social media reacted to round 2.

Firstly, here's what the table looks like after the second weekend of the tournament.

DRAMA IN CARDIFF

There were a few surprise supporters coming from the Premier League.

Former England back row Nick Easter gave some insight into the dramatic game in Cardiff.

    And imperfect decision-making at key moments. Feel like I saw Finn Russell throw unnecessary offloads that went nowhere a couple of times in strong attacking positions, where they weren't on. (Admittedly he did an absolute beauty for stormy Seymour to set up that try). The fluffed conversion kick would be another example. Also I think they had a couple of opportunities to put three points on the board and didn't. Then again so did France.

    Interesting predictions, I think England and Ireland have the best shot at top position. I'd say England is most likely 1, but Ireland gave Italy such a hammering that if it does come down to points it could be close...

    Italy I'd guarantee are bottom, probably the safest bet if you are a betting man.

    I can see how you've put France ahead of Ireland, I'm not sure what this current Irish team are like, I personally found that the old Ireland definitely became complacent after big wins, not sure if this team will be the same. France are definitely still the most chaotically random team, I can see them finishing everywhere between 2 and 5 inclusive....

    Wales are still pretty ugly, they're still trying route 1 which may or may not work against the next targets. I think they'll struggle against France with that tactic.

    Scotland are very odd for me... I don't have a clue how to predict their positioning. They're playing fantastic rugby, but the loss against France was probably due to being out muscled and stupid penalties.

    Most importantly though, its great to hear what Joey Barton has to say about it. A man who even Callum Clark would be disgusted by.

    I tried a spot of trolling on a different post a couple of weeks ago and didn't get any mileage from it, so here goes again.

    On that post I made this prediction for the final table, which I'm now revising slightly:
    1. England (Not a GS though)
    2. France
    3. Ireland
    4. Scotland
    5. Italy
    6. Wales

    That slight revision is: 5 - Wales, 6 - Italy. The rest stays the same.

    Arrogantly, I really think Ireland away is the only genuine potential banana-skin now between England and a grand slam. That is such a brilliant fixture to finish the tournament. Can't even guess which way that will go. My hunch is Ireland will win. Which might not be a bad thing for England in the long run, lest they "peak too early" with the world cup still a couple of years away.

    I'm calling Scotland and France to both beat Wales. Expecting close games but with home advantage in both cases making the difference.

    Italy are basically home and dry for the Wooden Spoon, so swap positions 5 and 6 around.

    Then it's just the head-to-head between Ireland and France. One should never, ever, try to predict anything involving the French rugby team, but to maintain the order of my prediction I'm saying Ireland will rest on their laurels after thrashing Italy and the upcoming break will also upset their continuity. France usually click for at least one game and I say it'll be this one.

    I introduced this by saying I was trolling, but it's actually a genuine prediction. I'm not baiting the Welsh, but I hope Wales finish bottom (bar Italy). This is only to encourage a refresh of the coaching set-up in the vein of England post-world cup. Howley "is only fit to drive an ice cream van around Tenby" and Gatland I think has not only gone as far as he can with Wales, but worse he's sucked all the natural Welsh flair and creativity out of the playing ethos and someone needs to re-inject that. This will only happen if they have a shit six nations.

    Agree with Greenwood. Moriarty was making a serious physical impression around the park (not that I wan't to condone his cheap shot on Farrell). It's early days in his career but he looks to suit the modern game very well. It's a massive, massive loss for England that he chose to play for Wales.
