It is being reported by local media in France that Sam Whitelock will be leaving the Crusaders after the Rugby World Cup to join the French team, Pau. His older brother Luke currently plays for the Top 14 team that currently sits in 12th place.
Whitelock started his professional career in 2008 playing for provincial side Canterbury, before being selected for the Crusaders in Super Rugby where he quickly became a key member of the team. His strong performances for the Crusaders earned him a call-up to the All Blacks in the same year when he made his international debut against Ireland.
Since then, Whitelock has become a mainstay in the All Blacks squad, where he has played a crucial role in the team's success over the years. He is known for his physicality, his work rate, and his ability to lead by example on the field. He is also a skilled lineout jumper, and he has been a vital part of the All Blacks' set-piece play.
Whitelock has won numerous accolades throughout his career, including two World Cups in 2011 and 2015, multiple Super Rugby competitions, and is a one-time winner of the New Zealand Rugby Player of the Year.
