Amazing end-to-end passage of play results in try for Suburbs vs Grammar-Carlton

This amazing passage of end to end play from Auckland club rugby did the rounds recently after it was posted by someone who was at the game. It features a flowing passage of play where either side, Grammar-Carlton or Suburbs, could have scored.

Suburbs, in red, were leading 27-7 at the halftime break, but then had two players yellow-carded at once, allowing Grammar to come back into the match with some great rugby.

The passage of play took place when the score was at 30-26 following a great Grammar comeback, which they were trying to cap off with a try while Suburbs were still down to 13-men.

Both sides featured players that have played at top representative level, including giant tighthead prop Ofa Tu'ungafasi, who played for NZ U/20 and this season is part of the Blues in Super Rugby.

In the end after multiple phases, the try was finished off by winger Gareth Williams-Spiers.

    Jesus Christ. There is no hope for the rest of world rugby. Fitness, creativity, skill levels and execution- especially the handling - in this club game are better than in many international games, and the fluidity especially is more impressive than anything you're likely to see in the English Premiership this weekend.

    So much about this clip is awesome, but for me the bits that stood out are:
    Tackle at 0:48 - red winger was shifting at some speed and had done everything right to give himself some space on the outside.
    1:11 Mobility of the monster in the white 17 shirt - bloke that size has no right to cover as much ground as he did to get back there and still accelerate and step like that.
    1:29 Run by red fullback. I don't think we see enough of the old "Rokocoko spin" these days!

    But what's really great is the understanding between all the players. Prime example at the end where red 15 makes that run and at the end of it know he can just pop the ball up and someone's on hand to gather the offload, in this case a second row who makes a crucial run and gets a decent pass away.

    It's what the 1970s Dutch football team might call Total Rugby.

    Hmm, what gave that away? Was it this line from the Clip description?

    Great example of the game.

    Goes to show just how deep the skill level is in places like NZ -- from the outside, it looks like some casual, weekend match under / near some power lines with guys standing on the sideline with their dog -- but up close, there is magic.

    Also, good bit of sportsmanship from #17 -- realizes how both teams gave it their all, and the other team was just lucky enough to finish the play off.
