Andre Taylor scores again with brilliant finish against the Rebels

Prolific try scorer Andre Taylor crossed twice against the Rebels, taking his impressive tally to ten for the season. Here's a quick look at one of those scores, which he finished brilliantly and is no doubt one of the tries of the season.

The game was one of the more entertaining of the weekend but the scoreline was pretty one sided, with the Hurricanes smashing the Rebels 66-24. It's the same game that had those huge Motu Matu'u hits that were featured on here earlier in the week.

Young powerhouse winger Julian Savea scored a hat-trick but this try, which came about from a dart by the highly talented TJ Perenara, was one of the more memorable of the game.

Taylor and Perenara will no doubt be pushing for higher honours in the not too distant future. They've both been stand-out players for the 'Canes this season, who famously sacked a bunch of their players in a Mark Hammett cleanout that was meant to rebuild the squad.

Peranara has made darting runs all season, and as we saw on Saturday, also looks like one of the hardest hitting number nines around, which are words that normally don't go in one sentence.

The other vital part of the try was the catch and inside pass by center Tim Bateman, who has also been impressive this season and got the ball away despite being pushed close to the touchline.

The Hurricanes have named an unchanged team for Saturday's meeting with the Waratahs.

I don't know what Mark Hammett did there but weren't Hurricanes ranking in the 10th or something? Now it looks like they can make the playoffs!

You evidently misunderstand how the forward pass rule works. It should be by the passing action of the passer (i.e. arm goes backwards to release the ball).

    See:

Remember, you are running forwards fast, even if you throw the ball backwards it is still going forwards relative to the static ground. It just becomes obvious to see when the passer suddenly stops.

Well, to be honest...the decade just started. So that sounds just a little premature. But as I allready agreed on: superb try!

Yeah John hart, unbelievable coach, how many rwcs did he win? Played Cullen at 13? Umaga at 14? Brilliant.

If I had a Player who scored 9 tries and started and finished that move I'd tell him to not back himself so much too.

Personally, as a junior coach, I watch this and think... How do I develop players to think and execute like this? What a combo of courage, skill, confidence and determination. Rugby at its finest.

The try of the decade and you're crying about a non-existing forward pass?.....Sad!

Andre Taylor is a great runner and player, has been likened to that of Christian Cullen, but it seems he has the also same disease that Cullen had; backs himself TOO much and doesn't take note of his support players.

John Hart used make Cullen hold onto a ball 24/7 while on tours so that he would get sick of it and want to pass it during games!

Maybe you should take a closer look at the 5 meter line. Or visit your optician more frequently.

Not saying the try should have been denied. Just saying I have tries seen being denied for less...

    Agree with BarryT.

Although, judging on the lines on the field, the last pass looked a bit forward.
