Former England fly half Andy Goode has received criticism for comparing singer Sam Smith with Captain Tom Moore on Twitter.
Goode posted a picture showing Smith crying next to Captain Tom after the Second World War veteran raised £20m for the NHS by walking laps around his garden during self isolation.
“This picture absolutely sums up what’s wrong and right about our society right now! An attention seeker vs an inspirational hero,” said Goode on Twitter.
The response has not been good, with one reply describing his Tweet as “a turd sandwich” and members of the rugby community including David Flatman and Neil Back also calling him out.
