Anthony Watson shares damning opinion about Bath in shock interview

Anthony Watson has made an impressive start to his Leicester Tigers career, teaming up with the likes of Freddie Steward, Mike Brown and Chris Ashton to form a formidable back line. As a seasoned England international and two-time British and Irish Lion tourist; his impact is not all that surprising. His departure from Bath midway through 2022 had a little more shock value to it.

Despite enjoying 10 seasons with the west-country side, Watson was let go under pretty brutal circumstances - leaving a sour taste in the now 29-year-olds mouth. Expecting his contract to be extended, Watson received a call the day before his contract extension clause was due to be activated to tell him that he would not be kept on.

When asked if anyone had reached out or if any bridges had been rebuilt, Watson was quick to emphasise that the communication was "done" with his former side. The England international explained that as a person to hold grudges, he wasn't going to let it slide the way his release from Bath was managed. Stressing the amount he had given to the club over the past ten years, Watson emphasised how being let go in such a way had left him feeling "extremely upset".

Watson can play in multiple positions across the backline. He is primarily a full-back, but he has also played on the wing and at centre for both his club and country. His explosive pace, superb footwork, and excellent ball-handling skills make him a constant threat to opposing defences.

Injuries have been a challenge for Watson during his career, but he has shown resilience and determination in overcoming them. He has proven himself to be one of the most exciting and talented players in world rugby, and he looks set to continue his success for many years to come.
