Argentina leapfrog Australia in world rankings

Argentina have risen up to 7th place in the world rankings following their victory over Australia in the Rugby Championship on Saturday.

The Pumas showed terrific resilience against an Australian side struggling to kick into gear since the arrival of Eddie Jones.

It's because of their poor form that Australia now find themselves dropping further down in the rankings - a far cry from the impressive Wallaby sides of the past.

Eddie Jones remained positive in his comments following the match, however, comparing the Australian squad to an old car: "You fix the handbrake and then the next day the windscreen wipers break and we're a bit like that at the moment,' the former England coach said.

"Last week our set piece wasn't good this week our set piece was good. So this is a bit of a process we've got to go through, as painful as it as hard as it is, and the team we are today is a long way from the team we want to be tomorrow, but you know we'll keep working on it and we'll get it right."

“Whilst it seems like it’s doom and gloom at the moment, beating inside here is a fair bit of optimism that we’ll be able to change fairly quickly in the next couple of weeks. If I was the All Blacks, I’d look out," Jones added.

There are no changes to the rest of the rankings despite the All Blacks comprehensive victory over the Springboks at the weekend.
