An Argentina legend has just announced his retirement.
Juan Manuel Leguizamon earned 87 caps for Argentina over a 14 year international career. Leguizamon is 38 years of age and has had a glittering career in professional rugby. Leguizamon retired from international rugby in 2019 as the second most capped Argentina player of all time alongside Feilpe Contepomi, just behind the most capped Augustin Creevy.
Juan Manuel Leguizamon’s club career spanned mostly across 4 clubs. He began with London Irish from 2005 until 2008 playing for them 60 times. Stade Francais from 2008 until 2011, 66 times. He then transferred to Lyon from 2011 until 2015 and played 61 times. He then eared himself a contract in Super Rugby playing for the Jaguares for 3 years until 2019, 33 times.
He then signed for the Seattle Seawolves in Major League Rugby in 2020, however he did not get to play a game that season. The league cancelled its 2020 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic but awarded all its players, paying out their full contracts even though the league had only played 5 rounds. He then signed for Rugby United New York (now Rugby New York) during the 2021 season. However, unfortunately during his first and only appearance he sustained an injury which kept him out for the rest of the season.
He truly is an Argentina legend.
