Awesome scenes as Blitzbok fan throws down at the HSBC SVNS

Earlier this year sevens rugby had a major re-brand. It was announced that 12 men's and women's teams would share a global stage at 8 unique festival-style destinations, hosting a weekend of rugby, music, food, and uninterrupted fun over 7 months.

Designed to attract a younger audience to help grow the game, the events have hosted a range of competitive and social sports for all -  from non-contact rugby to functional fitness. Every event delivers something unique whilst playing host to the greatest teams in the World SVNS series.

Considering input from players, fans, broadcasters, and unions, the competition format underwent a complete overhaul, delivering even more excitement, drama, and suspense than ever before.

Epitomising everything great about the festival of rugby, one particular Blitzbok fan danced to Bruno Mars in front of an entire crowd full of people, check it out here:

The revamped HSBC SVNS Series has been nothing short of a dreamland for the 18-30’s crowd; with beer, music, sun, and fast-flowing rugby in full show. The crowds have been packed to the rafters as they've enjoyed the updated rugby and party experience as the greatest in the game come together to put on a show.

Just at the end of the 2023 calendar year, after two days of grueling rugby, the winners of the Cape Town tournament, Australia Women and Argentina Men, joined in with the festivities – throwing themselves into the 2000 litre pool beside the pitch.

The jubilant scenes showed both sides in pure ecstasy as they celebrated their momentous wins in front of the rugby-mad crowd. Clearly not built for the amount of people in the pool, however, the makeshift water feature split as the players were getting into full flow…

Chaotic scenes followed as players tried to protect the trophy as well as a certain player on crutches in immediate danger of slipping. Fortunately everyone was okay in the end, and the mishap will go down in SVNS history as a classic blooper.
