The Six Nations B got under way on Saturday with a Rugby World Cup 2015 qualifier between Belgium and Georgia in Brussels. Unfortunately the game started off in poor spirit with a huge brawl between the two sides.

Favourites Georgia have have a few French based players and have played in three World Cup's already, so Belgium were the underdogs, but managed to give them a bit of a scare, leading 13-3 early in the second half.

Georgia's experience told though and they came back to win the match 17-13.

Both sides were fired up and within minutes of kick off things turned ugly, with Montpellier's big bruiser Mamuka Gorgodze in the thick of it. It was difficult to see what started it other than possibly a dummy run in midfield that led to contact.

The referee opted to red card a player from each side, as props Davit Kubraishvili of Georgia and Maxime Jadot of Belgium were sent off.

Update: Another angle of the fight is shown below

The Swedes had Viking raids, pilaging and rape in their spirits back in the day, I suppose we should allow them to bring swords on the pitch too?
Thankfully they outgrew this, and Georgia needs to outgrow it's apparent love of violence too, it is not a good image to be portraying.

I agree, and this "Belgium were winding us up" is about the most childish excuse I can imagine. Of course they were, you have a history of losing your cool, all this excuse proves is that the Georgian players are exactly as gullible and violent as people think.

Why is fighting a point of pride? If that's what you want to do, go take up boxing, there is more money, fame and status in that. This is rugby, it is not a place for violent thugs to strut around boasting about how great they are at fighting.

i know it looked bad how georgian players ran and punched everyone they saw, but it's in their spirit, when one georgian fights, they can't just look at them, they HAVE to help them. that belgian number three got what he deserved as he punched a georgian player who was on the ground, mamuka kicked his ass

I would like to see you go against him in a fight Fedderico
Well done Belgium for a good game, but disgrace to them for starting a fight and then running back like chicken, and having everybody talk how bad Georgians are. Belgium lost a fight and the game they were winning by 10 points at their home ground, so well done Georgia. I am sure Belgium will get warm welcome next year in Georgian Capital.
This fight was in Belgian game plan, to distract Georgian players form their game plan.
Good luck to Belgium in next games. We will see how good they really are by the end of the ENC

    Constantly provoking for....let me see....ah, yes, 3minutes.
I always found it very cool for Georgia to have such a good team. I like underdogs and I hope all the rugby underdogs will get better and challenge the establishment. But this attitude here is really sad. There is no "you got what you deserve". This is the ugly side of a violent amateur rugby. Nothing to do with the spirit of the game.
Truth is, Georgia had a hard time versus Belgium because Belgium is getting better and better. Now our rugby team is as good as our soccer team, 10 years ago no one could have predicted that! So let's forget this mess and rejoice!

The exact pre historic kind of state of mind that should disappear quickly from the game. To teach a lesson, you use tries, not fists. And I you can't, maybe its because there are no lessons to be taught.

I find it very hard to see who started the fight and both sides are blaming each other. But if they were constantly provoking the other team (which I doubt), than it's the referee who has to deal with the situation (which he did correctly imo).

Sorry, made a small mistake, thx to sportkipik. They state that Guillaume Piron (Montpellier) was playing in the nr. 11 jersey. But indeed, according to the game sheet it's Andre Thibaut. Guillaume played on the centre.

Im really happy seeing Belgium progressing in rugby! Also because I have Belgian ancestry.
Georgia needs to stop fighting in every match they play. That is not a good image for them and for rugby... and Mamuka suck at fighting! I saw other fights of him and yep.. he sucks.

What an absolute disgrace to the sport! Having watched it several times I think the whole team need banning for a very long time! Think someone else mentioned but several Georgian players just run around punching anyone they can get their hands on! Would be very interested to know what the CC has to say about this!!!!

I had a good look and all he did was walk towards the original scuffle, then he got unleashed upon. It's not just #6 that needs a ban, about half the Georgian team were punching anything that moved.

I get the feeling the 6 won't be playing again for a very long time. Did I miss what the 11 did to annoy him?

Georgia need to stop fighting in every match they play in! The Georgia No.5 and blindside both need very long bans.
