London Mayor Boris Johnson opened the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool Allocation Draw on Monday with a typically unique speech that paid tribute to the founders of the game.

Johnson spoke of the drunk Victorians that had had enough of the 'namby-pamby pussyfooting around of the spheroid fetishists of association football', among other things.

"Have you ever wrestled someone in a cable car?" - about the only time in the video that he has a serious facial expression...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMAO1hfZSzc skip to 2:40 of this video. haha. This is how I always imagine non-English people when they first see a Boris Johnson speech.

You've got to love a politician who doesn't mind making a bit of an oaf of himself. His hair seems to do it all by itself, btw

This was my first Boris Johnson speech ever, and I must say I'm quite delighted.
Sounds a bit like Douglas Adams.

quite amusing and refreshing speech ;)
but this guy seems to make his own "buffon" publicity at each sport event. i guess he will have a special "reversed" speech for uefa direction before the champions league final 2013... in london.

ps: was it this guy who said that the olympic golden medals won by team GB could pay the debts of Greece?...
