Brutal breakdown stamping in 2003 shows just how much the game has changed in two decades

Hilarious footage of former Wallaby international Justin Harrison’s rucking technique from 2003 has gone viral on Twitter.

The short clip shows the Brumbies lock using his boots to stamp on a Blues player and prevent him from slowing the ball down at a breakdown.

Harrison stamps the player at least 15 times which by today’s standards equates to about 10 red cards and a season-long ban, but it’s good fun to look back at how much the game has changed - even in just the past 20 years.

Harrison represented the Wallabies 34 times over a three-year period and was notorious for his physicality on the field, most memorably against the British & Irish Lions in 2001 when he struggled to see eye-to-eye with Austin Healey.
