Cameron Woki returns as France name side to face All Blacks in World Cup opener

The stage is under is almost set. The nuts and bolts are being tightened one by one as the world aligns in union to watch the opening game of the 2023 Rugby World Cup on Friday.

The match will see hosts France welcome the three time champions, New Zealand in what many are anticipating to be one of the most thrilling matches of the entire tournament.

France, like New Zealand, have found themselves on the receiving end of some pretty unfortunate injury’s in recent times, with the likes of both Romain Ntamack and Paul Willemse missing from their World Cup squads, whilst Jonathan Danty finds himself sidelined for the first match - also suffering from an injury.

Known for their immeasurable strength in depth, French fans need not worry that their side will be weakened in any such way, however.

Former French favourite Cameron Woki is selected to take his place in the second row as he replaces the injured Willemse. Woki will combine with Thibaud Flament as his second row partner for their opening game.

Matthieu Jalibert comes in at flyhalf to partner the mercurial Antoine Dupont, whilst Yoram Moefana joins Gael Fickou in the centres in replacement of Danty.

The hugely anticipated Rugby World Cup opening match between France and New Zealand is due to take place at 9.15 pm local time at Stade de France.
