The Crusaders clinched a seventh consecutive Super Rugby title with a 25 – 20 victory over the Chiefs.
Leading 15 – 10 at halftime, the Crusaders would fall behind the Chiefs 20 – 15 following a sublime try from winger Emoni Narawa.
Yet as they have done countless times, the Crusaders upped the pressure as time wound down.
Following a series of driving mauls, the Chiefs captain Sam Cane was sent to the sin bin with ten minutes to play.
With their skipper on the sidelines, the Chiefs couldn’t hold out the Crusaders, who drove over for what would prove to be the winning of the match.
As the full-time whistle was blown, Chiefs fans were keen to let the match officials know how they felt as they booed referee Ben O’Keefe and his team.
On social media, fans were in uproar at perceived inconsistencies throughout the fixture.
Most notable was an incident where Chiefs centre Anton Lienart-Brown was shown a yellow card for what many felt was a clear red.
