Clermont's Fijian beasts turn Toulon into speed bumps in preseason friendly

Clermont defeated Toulon 46-21 in a pre-season match on Friday night at Stade Felix Mayol. As this video shows, Clermont's marauding Fijians absolutely could not be stopped, putting on a powerful display, giving us a glimpse of what we can expect this season.

Although still pre-season, this result should help heal some wounds from Toulon's 49-0 beatdown of Clermont the last time these two teams met back in March.

With both powerful running and perhaps some poor tackling, the visitors delivered one painful blow after another.

Clermont will be particularly happy to welcome back Alivereti Raka from last year's season-ending knee surgery. He along with fellow countrymen Apisai Naqalevu and Peceleli Yato clearly look fit and ready for the upcoming Top 14 season to begin.

If another Monday's got you down, this should be all the motivation you need to lower your head and push through. And we're not far away from official kick-offs for Top 14, Pro 14, and Premiership Rugby.

Clermont open against Agen on August 25th, while Toulon will take on Racing 92.

Is this the future of rugby? Huge guys running straight at each other and law changes every week leading to tedious controversial decisions that spoil matches for everyone? Starting to lose the love.

In fairness Toulon 15 got him every time (with the exception maybe of the last one). 10 put in a good effort considering that he's ... well a 10. 13 and 14 need tackle practice. 12 decided to stay out of it.

Whilst some of those aren't that impressive (running at 9/10's, tackles were completed etc) there are a fair few that are pretty impressive collisions - a few were on Fekitoa and he is no pansy. Also, the fact there are what 15 different incidents is also pretty impressive - some sore bodies after this - I'm looking at you #13!!
