Connacht star earns late call-up to the Irish Six Nations squad

Connacht backrow Cian Prendergast has been called up to Ireland's 2024 Guinness Six Nations squad by head coach Andy Farrell.

Prendergast replaces Munster breakthrough star Thomas Ahern, who sustained an injury during his team's Investec Champions Cup match with Northampton over the weekend.

The 6'9" Ahern was named as part of a three-man "training panel" alongside Munster teammate Oli Jager and Leinster flyhalf Sam Prendergast.

Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, he remained in hospital following a knee to the head from Saints hooker Curtis Langdon. Ahern will therefore remain with Munster as he continues his rehab with indications being that he will join the squad when fit.

Prendergast will, therefore, join his brother Sam with the squad in Portugal as they build up to their first clash of the Championship against France in Marseille.
