New Zealand secured victory over a vastly improved Wallabies in Dunedin to complete a clean sweep in this year’s Bledisloe Cup series.
Coming out hot, the Wallabies raced into a 17 – 3 lead only to let their advantage slip scoring just three points in the second half.
Eddie Jones and his side will be kicking themselves as they eventually slipped to a 23 – 20 loss in what will be a real kick in the gut following last week’s drubbing.
Yet, with the scores tied at 20 – 20, the Wallabies defence was holding firm. This was until the All Blacks were awarded a scrum penalty in a very kickable position for the highly accurate boot of Richie Mo’unga.
Whilst the penalty was clearly justified, what followed was a particularly long advantage period for the All Blacks.
Putting in some sapping defence, the Wallabies conceded 25 metres as the All Blacks attacking machine hit overdrive.

Unfortunately for the Wallabies, referee Karl Dickson decided to call playback as he felt the Kiwis had not received enough advantage.
This decision caught the ire of Wallabies fans, who felt the All Blacks had gained enough advantage to move on from the penalty.
In the end, Mo’unga would sink the kick, and the rest is history as Jones’s wait for a first win in his second stint in charge goes on.
