England and Leicester Tigers stalwart Dan Cole is man who has been around the block in rugby terms.
Now 35-years-old with 95 England caps, 3 British and Irish Lions caps and as of today 300 Tigers appearances, Cole is a front marvel give his longevity at the coal face of rugby.
In arguably Rugby’s toughest position of Tighthead prop, Cole has seen it all and done it all which perhaps makes rugby fans take for granted just how great he has been since making his Tigers debut in 2007.
On the day of his 300th cap, Cole once again put in an immense performance in the Tiger’s 23 – 16 win over French giants Clermont Auvergne.
Dominant in the set piece and impressively mobile in the loose (not an area he is renowned for), Cole once again proved that he can not only feature at a high level but thrive.
In fact it was not just this evening where Cole has impressed but all season which could well see him enter back into the England fold ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Also in the big prop’s favour is the likely appointment of his Tiger’s head coach Steve Borthwick to the top job with England.
Could Borthwick value the experience of Cole in the England squad as he looks to rebuild following Eddie Jones’s dismissal.
How fitting it would be for Cole to be a 100 cap international before he calls it a day.
