Danny Cipriani leaves Gloucester with immediate effect, replacement named within an hour

Gloucester Rugby have announced that Danny Cipriani has left the Club with immediate effect, and have since named his replacement. Cipriani has not played for them this season.

Having joined Cherry & Whites in 2018, former England fly-half Cipriani went on to score 128 points in 44 appearances for the Club.

The now 33-year-old Cipriani has expressed his gratitude for the club.

“After much deliberation. I have decided to leave Gloucester,” Cipriani said on his official Twitter account.

Cipriani continued: “I have mixed emotions about it. I am sad to leave a great club, but I’m excited for the challenges I have ahead.

“I am so proud of what we have built together, and I have enjoyed working with every one.”

As speculated, Gloucester announced the signing of his replacement within an hour of confirming his departure.

Scotland international Adam Hastings will join the club next season.

Hastings has won 22 caps, and Gloucester head coach George Skivington said: “We are really pleased to welcome Adam to Gloucester for next season.

“He has matured as a player impeccably over the last couple of years and developed into a top international fly-half. The most exciting part for us is that he has still got plenty of room for development as well.

“He has now built up a considerable amount of domestic and international experience, which will prove invaluable to the squad.”
