A very convincing Saracens performance saw the London side dismantle Newcastle Falcons in ruthless fashion at Kingston Park today.
The bonus point win makes it four wins from four matches for Saracens as they maintain their perfect start to this season's premiership. Some noticeable performances from the likes of Theo Mcfarland and Elliot Daly in particular carved the struggling northeast side open as they took a commanding 0-26 lead at half time.
It was during the second half that tempers flared as England international Mako Vunipola came flying into a ruck off his feet, appearing to throw his shoulder into the head of Newcastle fullback, Tom Penny. With the Falcons understandably furious there appeared to be a ruckus on the floor, with Mateo Carreras forcing Vunipola's head down onto the turf with his elbow.
Once broken up referee Wayne Barnes studied the video footage and determined it was a clear red card, and sent Vunipola to the stands. In a noticeable sense of sportsmanship, Vunipola went over to shake the hand of Penny and make his apology known, which was accepted by the Newcastle fullback.
The second half started much the way as the first, with Saracens first on the scoresheet. Despite a late scoring flurry from the Falcons, it was much too late. With the game having already been tied up it ended up being merely a consolation.
