Drew Mitchell scores dramatic try at the death as Toulon snatch victory from Wasps

Toulon claimed a dramatic win over Wasps at the Stade Felix Mayol last night, coming from behind to score a superbly taken late winning try through Wallaby winger Drew Mitchell. The 15-11 Pool 5 win denied Wasps a historic away win, and put the French side top of the group.

With ten minutes left in the match Wasps took a 11-8 lead through Guy Thompson, as Toulon looked like they would struggle to hang on to their impressive unbeaten at home record.

They held their nerve though, stretching Wasps after a sustained period of pressure, allowing All Black centre Ma'a Nonu to take his pick of runners, and put Mitchell through the gap after the Wallaby ran a stunning line.

Nonu had two men outside so with the Wasps defence spread, they had little chance of withstanding the pressure. Freddie Michalak converted the try and the hosts won what was for the most part a scrappy, tense contest.

They now need to beat Bath away next weekend to secure a quarter final berth, while Wasps need to beat Leinster to achieve the same result.

Quade Cooper finished off the opening try of the match, a length of the field effort. You can watch there here, on page two.

After the match Matt Giteau tweeted his delight at the win, and the try scored by the Wallaby

Yep, clear knock at exactly 1 minute. Still great try.

At 2.55 you can see Nonu spotting the defender has turned in and then it's a simple in-line from Mitchell. Great work from two great players
