Emotional scenes as parents in shock to see daughter leading Haka

When something big happens in your life it's often customary to tell those you love about it. If it's a big event that's due to take place, ordinarily you may want to prepare those special members of family or friends that it's due to happen.

This wasn't the case for Kendra Cocksedge of the Black Ferns as she tore up the rule book and surprised her parents in the most incredible fashion.

Posting on Instagram afterwards, Cocksedge displayed her parent's shock and awe as they saw their daughter lead the Haka in incredibly moving scenes.

The 34-year-old has been a mainstay in the New Zealand national side since her debut back in 2007, and has since gone on to win 60 caps. Cocksedge was named the New Zealand Women's Player of the Year at the end of 2015, and was a part of their triumphant 2017 world cup winning squad.

The post has received some terrific support online, with three-time World Player of the Year, Dan Carter commenting "Love this!".

Support has also come from the likes of Katrina Rore, the Silver Fern Netball player, and other members of the Black Ferns.
