England Captain Ellis Genge Brutally Honest Post Match

Not quite the dream debut as captain that he was hoping for, England captain Ellis Genge fronted the media following his side’s humiliating 53 – 10 home defeat to France.

Speaking frankly and honestly about his side’s performance, Genge fronted the media with class as he broke down what would’ve certainly been his toughest day in an English shirt.

Genge said of the perfoamnce; “I ain’t going to sugarcoat it, it is probably one of the worst performances we have had.

“It shows when you are against a team that’s that well coached and that clinical, if you’re 10%, 20% off you are going to get punished.”

“We were punished numerous times. We asked the boys to keep fighting and I think for probably 80% of it we were fighting.”

“But the 20% that we weren’t, we got punished big time.

Genge was then pressed further but concluded about the performance but admitted that England were way off where they wanted to be.

Next up it doesn’t get any easier for Steve Borthwick’s side as they travel to take on Ireland in Dublin.

Depending on the outcome of tomorrow’s fixture in Edinburgh, Ireland could be chasing a Grand Slam making the challenge that bit greater for England.
