England get the win over innovative Italy side at Twickenham

Italy employed some unique, controversial tactics that helped them stay in the game for all of 70 minutes before England pulled away with a flurry of tries for a hard-earned 36-15 victory at Twickenham on Saturday.

We'll have more reaction and clips soon, for now, here are the official short highlights.

My concern, as an England fan, is that I thought Jones had got England to play with a bit more brain and to get their heads up. It just goes to show that at the heart of English rugby is a malaise whereby we love big strong players physically, but we don't have the same respect for problem-solvers and those who are strong mentally.

I'm not saying that I had any clue what England should have done to counter the tactic in the first half, but then we all know I'm proper fick.

Absolutely agreed. It was really vindicating to see Launchbury et al smashing up the middle and seeing Italy realise the game was up and their tactic had been sussed.

I'd say England were really bad in the first half, second half much better (aside from woeful defence for Campagnaro's try) but they can't afford to start so slowly again.

It was appalling to watch, and incredibly negative, but fair play to Italy. It did however make me feel a surge of delight when the tries starting crashing over.

Rugby doesn't need to be pretty, you just want your team to win. England looked rubbish and Scotland will be licking their lips for the next match.

I've got to say that despite the stuff from EJ and that silly wanker Dawson, the England fans have been thoroughly supportive of the effort that Italy put on.

Congratulations for being a decent fan and for Englands win.

I agree with 45678 and others (including Brian Moore) who have expressed the view that Italy need to win matches and they are entitled to do so within the laws of the game. Jones had talked up a thrashing so who can blame them for going out and trying to be hard to beat? Despite being an England fan, I thought we were so hapless in the first half that I was willing Italy on to score - they were the better team and deserved to come away with something from that period of pressure. Eddie Jones is a great coach, but I think this whole 'that wasn't a rugby match' business is a bit of a smokescreen from the fact that we looked really, really poor at the start. I'm as keen for us to become world number 1 as the next (English)man, but the flipside is that we look pretty stupid if we then go on to make so many errors and concede so many penalties as we did in that first half.
For me Elliot Daly is just oozing class though.

It's tradition that the home team don't go to the meeting. There was an outcry about a team breaking that tradition before.

I have no problem with the creative thinking applied by Italy. The problem is, I don't think the referee, linesmen or players on both sides knew how to properly police the tactics

tackles that were actually rucks were not rucks, rucks that were just tackles were called rucks

Italian players were engaging in rucks and then withdrawing from contact. It was a mess

I thought the opposing team are allowed to attend the referee hearing before the game. if England didn't turn up for this meeting or ignored this discussion then they only have themselves to blame
