While Fijian 7s and fifteens teams have always had a very specific reputation for attacking, unstructured and brilliant to watch rugby, this bit of play from their Women's team shows that it is certainly not only reserved for the men.
Earlier this year, before the Covid-19 pandemic hit and all rugby was suspended, the Fijiana Women's XV were invited to Queensland and sponsored by Rugby Australia, as a way of boosting and preparing the Fiji ladies for the Women's 15s Rugby World Cup next year.
They came up against a Super W powerhouse in Queensland Reds Women's rugby team but showed that they have the ability to attack from deep, when they created this masterful try from a scrum on their own 5-meter line.
The ball went through the hands, including a pass through the legs, before they found their speedy fullback Aloesi Nakodi out wide, who finished the brilliant team try by sprinting 60m to complete the 100m effort. The Fijiana team went on to win the match 29-10 at Ballymore, and this try was certainly a highlight of the day.
