FODEN: Stateside - Documentary reveals all on former England star's New York move

Ben Foden's high-profile move to the Major League Rugby championship has certainly been an interesting talking point in the last year, as the former England international full-back looks to reinvent himself stateside.

The latest edition of RugbyPass' original documentary series travels with Foden to the USA to learn more about the 33-year-old's move to the recently formed Rugby United New York.

Foden explains that part of the reason he opted to move to New York came as a result of a turbulent time at home, where he got divorced from wife Una. Foden explains that it was this dark moment in his life which left him searching for pastures new across the pond.

New York has provided that break from the past and has allowed the 34-time-capped England internationalist to restart and more importantly, help build RUNY and the Major League Rugby organisation in a country increasingly warming to the prospect of professional rugby.

One of the most interesting aspects of the documentary is the feeling of upheaval and new challenges for Foden, who spent 10 years with Northampton Saints before jumping ship. He is unperturbed by the apparent come-down from his comfortable life in England.

"When I arrived at my apartment, there was no bed... They promised me there'd be one, but there wasn't," Foden said.
