Former England international tipped to play against them in June

England are due to host the Barbarians on Sunday the 19th of June in one of this summer's most hotly anticipated games. This will prove as an important warm up before they embark on their journey down south for a 3 part test against the Australian national side this summer.

The last time England hosted the Barbarians saw a star studded black and white side push past the English outfit 45-63. This game included a 25 minute hattrick for the ex-England winger Chris Ashton, as well as some truly impressive performances from the likes of Victor Vito, Greig Laidlaw, Semi Radradra, and Finn Russell.

Ahead of this match up, England Head Coach Eddie Jones has said: “The Barbarians fixture is a special one in rugby, it’s always a good challenge for the players, entertaining for supporters and showcases the spirit of the game.

“It’s been great to play back in full stadiums again and we know this game is one that the fans enjoy and we’re looking forward to playing in front of the Twickenham crowd.

“It will also be a good preparation for us ahead of an important tour to Australia.”

One such player potentially looking to cause problems for the England squad could very well be 84 cap scrum half, Danny Care. Just today Barbarians FC have released a tweet teasing the possibility of Care lining up opposite his long term rival, Ben Youngs.

Although playing arguably some of the best rugby of his career to date, Care has not played in the white of England since 2018. Shedding some light on Care's exile from the national side, former England scrum-half Kyran Bracken has previously said:  “He made the mistake of speaking his mind to Eddie Jones and questioning how he wanted him to play when he was playing with an England ‘B’ team against Japan in the autumn of 2018. Eddie’s response to that was ‘that’s not the attitude I want’ and he binned him from his plans."

Care's young club teammates Marcus Smith, Alex Dombrant, and Joe Marchant have all made quite the impact on the national scene in recent times. So to see them lining up against the old head of Danny Care could be quite the spectacle.
