Irish legend Brian O’Driscoll discusses controversial national anthems

The World Rugby Cup is final here and as we are now deep into round one, there have been plenty of takeaways both on and off the pitch.

There has been some blistering rugby matched in equal measure by the heat wave currently hitting Europe.

Whilst the tournament has been a cracking display on the pitch, there have been a few rather peculiar incidents elsewhere. None more so that the bizarre renditions of each country’s national anthems.

In an near unanimous response, experts and fans from around the globe have blasted the performances which have come courtesy of a children’s choir in Paris.

Now voicing what many have said is Irish legend Brian O'Driscoll who did not hot back in his assessment of the anthems.

"The anthems have been terrible!" O'Driscoll said before continuing on "I was in studio with Sergio Parisse yesterday and the two big anthems if we are honest are La Marseillaise and the Italian national anthem.

"Both of them feel like they've been butchered! There is no opportunity for everyone to get in behind it.

"There are choirs and kids singing them. I know that was part of the concept but it's not working."
