French U20s banned for that awful double challenge vs England

The two France U20 players that dangerously cleared out an England U20 player last weekend have been suspended following a disciplinary hearing in London. The two received red cards at the same time, after what could have been a really ugly outcome.

The two players appeared in front of a Six Nations Disciplinary Committee in London yesterday, accused of contravening Law 9.18 - A player must not lift an opponent off the ground and drop or drive that player so that their head and/or upper body make contact with the ground.

Prop Hassane Kolingar and second row Pierre-Henri Azagoh were both sent off, with just minutes left in the contest after the players simultaneously lifted and dropped England's Fraser Dingwall, with his head and/or upper body making contact with the ground, contrary to Law 9.18.

Neither player sought to contest the red card, which led to chair of the Committee, Roger Morris (Wales) finding that the offence warranted a mid-range entry point in World Rugby's table of sanctions, carrying a ten-week period of suspension.

"In each case there were no aggravating factors and sufficient mitigating factors to allow the maximum mitigation of five weeks. Both players are therefore suspended for a period of five weeks and have the right of appeal," the official statement read.

Shades of the Mealamu-Umaga double spear tackle on BOD.

Generally, we require user submissions of specific moments or noteworthy tries, tackles etc as we're not able to watch every single match that happens, let alone U20s.

As for generic U20 match highlights packages, especially if it's 6N, that doesn't appeal to the majority so not something we'd feature. Hopefully, in future, we can integrate that as a section on the site though.

Thanks for the feedback and it is duly noted.

Go easy on the clickbait accusations, please. The article and video shows exactly what it says in the title.

Hahaha, well the website was formed on brutal play, so maybe it's heading back to it's roots?

I do genuinely think this was a case of each player trying to roll the opponent simultaneously, rather than a combined effort to plant a young English player and watch him grow on the field...

good point, the coverage of the under 20's performance in the UK is pretty terrible. Never mentioned on tv and zero coverage on the BBC.

Considering so many full internationals come through the under 20's now, I'd like to see RD showing highlights of the actual games

I think the panel saluted the artistic performance.

But thanks to these french young lads, it's the first time we see two U20 topics in the same week. Guess why. #clickbait

lucky they weren't French, as the French are always treated really unfairly when it comes to disciplinary matters. Oh hang on...

Ten week suspension, five week reduction for what? Not contesting it? Kind of difficult to contest it no?
