Frustrated former England star sparks late brawl that ends in the stands

Former England centre Billy Twelvetrees was sinned-binned for his role in a brawl that spilt into the stands in the closing moments of Sale's come-from-behind 22-19 victory at Kingsholm on Saturday night.

Twelvetrees can be seen running to quickly collect and recycle the ball in touch before shoving a sideline water carrier with both hands. Tom Curry then took exception and went to the ground with Twelvetrees. Things only got worse from there.

By touching the ball ahead of Twelvetrees getting to it, the water carrier would have prevented him from a potential quick lineout.

Speaking of the incident, Sale head coach Paul Deacon said:

"Emotions boil over, and I think a lot of people make it a bigger issue than it actually is... Emotions run over then, but I don’t think there was anything untoward, really. It just didn’t look great."

Marland Yarde could be seen in the thick of things as one commentator claimed to witness a headbutt. Despite the heat of the moment, Curry and Twelvetrees can be seen shaking hands at the end.
