Head-To-Head Collision Sees Red

Ireland’s Garry Ringrose was forced from the pitch following a head-to-head contact with New Zealand’s Angus Ta’avao.

For his part Ta’avao was shown red by referee Jaco Peyper who has had incredibly busy first forty minutes.

With player welfare so clearly at the front of World Rugby’s agenda, head contact is rightly being heavily policed.

The fixture has seen significant niggle with plenty of questionable tackles, off the ball incidents and overall plenty of drama as we have come to expect between these two sides.

Leading 10 – 0 Ireland were looking to further punish the All Blacks before a James Lowe dropped pass saw New Zealand methodically work their way downfield.

As the clock went into the red as they do so often the All Blacks found that all important score to close the gap to 10 – 7 setting up an intriguing second half.
