Hilarious footage of wing Jonny May trying to scrum goes viral

In the dying minutes of England's 27-14 win over Argentina, after they went down another man following the yellow card for Joe Marler, England winger Jonny May took it upon himself to bulk up the scrum by packing down on the flank. The result was hilarious.

He looked as though he had never seen a scrum, let alone been involved in one, as his hands were all over the place, his head at one point got between the loosehead's legs, and he continued pushing with all his might well after the ball was sent out to the backs.

The footage has since gone viral on social media, but we just had to post it here too. Legend!

The street is too narrow to open the door... sort of like a bobsled start, got to pick a gap in the parked cars either side to have enough room to jump in

Open the driver door and push from the A pillar, that way you have easy access to the pedals and the steering wheel should you need it....

Struggling to come to terms with just how moronic May must be.

Inserting his head into Mako Vunipola may be a starting point.

Certainly, the intelligence is not his strong point. To play rugby so many years and you not to know how binds a flanker in a scrum -and I do not mean "effectively pushing"- says a lot about your intelligence level . -native, of course. :)
Lucky for him that is "large" and running quickly. :)

I make Ford look like Tuilagi.

I may have only been in about 20 or 30 15-a-side scrums, but I have bump started many cars on my own, technique is the same. Square shoulders, straight spine, feet level rather than a sprinter's start.... Weight forwards through your shoulders, chest parallel to the floor, bind onto the tail light and get ready to Dukes of Hazzard it into your window to drop the clutch

10stonenumber10 - Judging by your name I'm guessing you're George Ford in disguise.

It's hard to see what he did wrong.

He goes from sticking his head up the props backside to humping his leg back to head up the backside. Meanwhile a burly man who spends a lot of his time in close company with other burly men is waving is hands looking as little uncomfortable and surprised. Highlight reel for both of them!

Poor guy, he looked like he was trying to bind onto the outside, then was told to bind to the lock. Instead he got caught in no man's land and got a face full of 75 minute old prop arse sweat. It is somewhat understandable, set in scrum position Vunipola is roughly the width of a small hatchback

Has he never hit a ruck before? Or seen any scrum... ever?

Exhibit A of why NZ are still better than us. He is a "Catch and Run" winger. A very, very, very good one, but from watching him, a few basic rugby skills are lacking. England's greyhound. He even tried to hump Vunipola's leg like one at the end there... Bring back both Yarde and Rokoduguni, they are just as quick and twice as physical.

Found it too difficult a session, most of our forwards dont have enough hair to stand around caressing it and we broke too many mirrors by looking into them to justify doing a session like that again...

Did you guys ever have the one practice a season when the forwards and backs switch? The lesson is always the same:forwards can do what backs do but backs cannot do what forwards do.

Well it shouldn't be allowed again after that. Ever.

To be fair, few wingers can say that they're scrummed down for England...

If you lovely guys and gals at RD could find the footage of Luther Burrell packing down on the flank against Newcastle and celebrating his first ever scrum penalty, 86 would make a great comparison #lutherforengland7

Hahahaha that was so damn funny!

I've never considered scrumming whilst playing flanker as a particularly complicated art.... Seen a few games, figured how hard can it be (then again, I might be shit at it...)

But to see someone balls it up THAT badly is hilarious!

I'm surprised England weren't overturned on that scrum considering the prop was clearly more focussed on what was happening to his arse than the Argie prop in front of him. As T said, should be a golden rule to not touch the props legs!! You run the risk of your second row having his arm sexually assaulted!!

He scrummages like someone who once overheard a description of a scrum in a crowded bar.

someone should have said, "whatever you do, don't touch the prop's legs."
