'I think I will just enjoy myself' says exciting new Leicester Tigers signing, Clayton Blommetjies

The beleaguered Leicester Tigers have been boosted today by the loan signing of exciting back Clayton Blommetjies from Pro14 outfit the Scarlets.

The former South Africa under-20 international plays in the back three, and is in as injury cover for Adam Thompstone, Telusa Veainu and the retired Mat Tait. The Tigers have struggled with injuries this season and their woes were increased recently with centre Kyle Eastmond set for a spell on the sidelines, and Ben Youngs ruled out for the rest of the season.

Leicester travel to fellow strugglers Newcastle this Friday, knowing that a loss means they are staring relegation in the face. Any addition would surely be welcomed at Welford Road currently, and the 28-year-old Blommetjies may be the injection that the Tigers need for the final stages of the season.

Here are some highlights of what the fullback has to offer Leicester:

Blommetjies joined the Scarlets from the Cheetahs at the beginning of the season but has failed to make an impact at Parc y Scarlets this year. However, it is clear that the fullback has great footwork and movement to find space, and his distribution is exceptional.

With lethal outside backs alongside him such as Jonny May and Manu Tuilagi, Blommetjies may be able to get the best out of Leicester’s backline and save their season.

Blommetjies spoke today in a refreshingly honest and positive interview.
