Northampton Saints and England stalwart Courtney Lawes will go down as one of the very best English players of all time.
The towering utility forward has been a mainstay in the Saints team since making his debut in 2007. Two years later, he debuted for England and has since gone on to captain his country during his 105-cap career.
He announced that he would be retiring from the international game following the 2023 Rugby World Cup. The 6'7" powerhouse brought the curtains down on a remarkable career whilst still at the top of his game.
Whilst it would have been understandable for him to somewhat take his foot off the pedal in his final season, Lawes has done nothing but that.
Instead, he has been ripping up trees in both the Premiership and the Investec Champions Cup as the Saints closed out their opening two rounds of the competition unbeaten.
His performances have caught the eye of just about hoards of English Rugby fans, who, it would appear, all feel he should come out of retirement to captain the team in the upcoming Six Nations.
There is no doubt that the call lies with Lawes and his family whether this is something he would consider. His leadership is just what England needs, given the news of Owen Farrell's decision to step down as England captain.
Once again displaying his out-of-this-world work ethic, TNT Rugby has shared an epic clip showing the 34-year-old chasing down a Toulon attack.
Going from deep in the Toulon half, Lawes made the crucial final tackle that stopped a certain try that would have likely proven to be the difference in the tight contest.
