Jack Nowell appears to have aimed a tweet at the Rugby Football Union after he was fined £10,000 back in April for criticising Karl Dickson's refereeing decision during Exeter Chiefs' defeat by Leicester.
At the time, he tweeted about Olly Woodburn's try-saving tackle being deemed illegal, saying: "I'm actually in shock, like shock shocked. What the hell is happening? That's one of the worst decisions I've ever seen. EVER,"
His tweet was eventually deleted alongside rumours of Nowell facing disciplinary action by the English governing body. The rumours were proved correct when he was fined £10,000 following an investigation by an independent disciplinary panel.
"Respect for match officials - even if we disagree with their decisions, indeed especially if we disagree with their decisions - is a core part of rugby union. It is not a value that we can turn on and off when we choose," said panel chair Matthew O'Grady at the time.
"Mr Nowell accepted his tweet, which was viewed many hundreds of thousands of times, was not fair comment and crossed the line of what is acceptable by a person with his considerable status in the game."
Well, now Nowell is heading off to France with La Rochelle, it seems he may be ready to fight back.
Responding to a tweet from owner Elon Musk that said "If you were unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform, we will fund your legal bill. No limit. Please let us know.", Nowell indicted in a one word reply saying he could very well be interested.
Fans led a chorus of 'Do it' in the comments, leading many speculating just how serious Nowell is likely to take the offer from Musk.
