Japan claim second RWC 2015 scalp with convincing win over Samoa

Until this year's tournament, Japan had only ever won one match at the Rugby World Cup, way back in 1991 against Zimbabwe. Now they have two victories, and are on course for a possible third following another impressive display, this time against Samoa, who they beat 26-5.

They missed out on a bonus point but still have an outside chance of making the quarter finals, a phenomenal achievement for the country that will host the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

This bodes very well for Japan.

There is a Japanese team stepping into the South African conference next year along with Argentina in the expanded Super 18, what better way to kick off a campaign than a win on the international stage?

I hope Japan can build on this, I'd hate to see them go backwards in the next RWC.

The standards of this competition have been incredible, but also very mixed.

I'm really impressed by Japan. I think they'll probably be a close third in that pool, and unfortunately not get through to the quarter finals.
