Japan win three matches but bow out of Rugby World Cup 2015

Japan finished Rugby World Cup 2015 with a best ever 3 wins, becoming the first side to ever win three pool matchs and not progress to the quarter finals. They beat the USA 28-18, the first time they've beaten them in the tournament before, following losses in 1987 and 2003.

To put things in perspective, before this tournament the last time Japan had won a Rugby World Cup match was in 1991 against Zimbabwe. The victory over South Africa was watched by millions back home in Japan, where the 2019 edition will be hosted.

Shame to see you go Japan, you've been a hell of a lot more inspiring and joyful to watch than my team (the hosts).

What a wonderful bunch they were. It's sad to see them go home, they were exciting, passionate and GOOD. Something that is perhaps a little lost in todays game. I mean South Africa on paper are clearly the better team, better players, better conditioned etc.. But their moment of weakness was pounced upon by a team of players who on paper shouldn't have had any chance. It was their passion and drive that got them through and I think that self belief opened the doors to the opportunities.

    Sad to see them go!

Next World Cup is going to be a cracker. I have a feeling Japan will put on quite a show.
