Jean Deysel called up to the Springbok squad

One of the strongest runners in world rugby, Sharks flank Jean Deysel has finally got his Springbok call up following an injury to Pierre Spies.

Spies injured his finger in training on Monday, so will miss the whole of the end of year tour unfortunately. One man's misfortune is another man's gain though, as Deysel will join the squad as they tour the UK, Ireland, and Europe.

Deysel has performed consistently well for the Sharks in both the Super 14 and Currie Cup, and anyone who's ever seen him play will know that when he gets ball in hand, it's best if the defence steps out the way.

A monster of a man, there's few players that are more powerful than Deysel when carrying it up. He's good in the loose and strong on defence, and has made a habit of bashing players out the way, crossing the advantage line more often than not.

We were considering making some kind of compilation of his charges from the season, but our friend combatBok has done it for us, with this awesome short video that goes nicely with his selection for the tour.

He'll come off the bench for the Springbok midweek team when they play against Leicester Tigers on Friday night, so lookout for a few of those trademark runs if he's given the opportunity.

Lock the kids away. Get your shotgun. Jean Deysel is here and it's going to take a lot to stop him.
