Jimmy Cowan reverse falcons captain Jamie Mackintosh

The Highlanders won at home on Friday night, beating the Brumbies 26-20 in a great game of Super Rugby in Invercargill. It ended with a match winning try to captain Jamie Mackintosh, who had earlier taken a ball to the back of the head.

You could possibly tag it as a reverse falcon, or as commentator Sumo said, a sconning. Call it what you want, Jimmy Cowan cleared the ball with all his might only to have it ricochet off the rather larger dome of front rower Mackintosh, who barely batted an eyelid.

To add insult to injury, Mackintosh was blown up for being offside, albeit accidentally. Later on, he said he was stoked about the win, their fourth in six games.

"We're rapt to get the win. The Brumbies are a class side. It's been a pretty good start for us. We knew we were a better side than we showed against the Crusaders in our last game," Mackintosh said.

"Who would have thought the Highlanders would win four out of their first six games. I'm ecstatic. We need to be picking up points to keep up our momentum."
