Jordie Barrett shocker leads to surprise Hurricanes defeat

Hurricanes full back Jordie Barrett had a total brain fade against the Jaguares on Friday which led to a yellow card and penalty try for the All Blacks youngster.

Barrett was racing back towards his own try line to defend a grubber kick executed by Joaquin Diaz Bonilla.

Barrett beat the kick chaser Matias Moroni to the ball virtually under his own posts but rather than dotting the ball down, he slapped it over the dead ball line resulting in a penalty try and a yellow card for the 22-year-old.

The Jaguares upset the Hurricanes 20-28 in Wellington leaving both sides second in their respected Super Rugby conferences after round 14.

Always thought that was fine in the dead ball area? More importantly who allowed the game to be contested in yellow vs orange?

In Rugby Union you can't throw or slap the ball out anywhere. And yep the colours were not great. At least there wasn't a bright pink ref in the mix too
