Kenyan Team Dump Australian Player In Huge Group Tackle

Australia and Kenya played out perhaps one of the most bizarre, yet tightly contested games of rugby sevens ever seen.

Emerging victorious by a score of 7 – 5 in the decisive pool D fixture. Both sides would progress to the quarterfinals with Kenya losing out to New Zealand who would then go on to beat the Aussies in the 3rd place play-off.

In a truly strange moment in the sides clash, Aussie star Corey Toole takes on the Kenyan defensive line.

After being held up by the first tackler, Toole then gets swarmed by several Kenya players who carry him from the middle of the pitch before dumping him over the sideline.

The choke tackle technique has been in rugby for a long time but was made popular by the Irish duo of Donnacha O’Callaghan and Paul O’Connell in the mid 2000s.

The technique if carried out correctly is incredibly effective at stop opposition momentum. In the game of sevens where there is a significant amount of one-on-one tackling and grappling for the ball, it would appear to be a real asset to a team who could perfect it.
