It's very rare that we'll show Rugby League on here - we're a Rugby Union website after all. But now and again there are some sensational bits of play that crossover and can, and should, be admired by even this most ardent of Union fans. This is one such moment.
When the Wests Tigers were on their final tackle in the early stages of their recent NRL game, a speculative kick into the dead ball area appeared to have bounced a little too far. That was until Kevin Naiqama produced an unbelievable piece of skill to keep the ball alive.
The grubber kick seemed to skim across the turf a little too quickly as it bounced past the in goal area, and for all intents and purposes the attacking opportunity appeared to have gone. Naiqama had other ideas however.
Keeping his feet in play, he leant over the dead ball line and skillfully flicked the ball around his back, into the hands of his teammate, James Tedsesco, who gratefully gathered to score. TMO replays confirmed that Naiqama had indeed, somehow, successfully kept the ball in play.
Pat Richards stepped up to slot the conversion and the Tigers had a dream start, but although Tedesco and Richards' names appear on the scoresheet, those 6 points belong to Naiqama.
The incident is very similar to the Greg Inglis acrobatics to set up a famous, unforgettable try for Australia in the Centenary Test back in 2008. This piece of play is right up there.
