The latest World Rugby rankings show just how competitive the international game is at the moment.
World Rugby released their latest rankings today. Interestingly, three teams are all ranked on 88 points, from 2-4th. France, Ireland and the All Blacks are neck and neck based on these rankings.
South Africa are clearly in front after only losing 3 matches last year. New Zealand, who also only lost 3 matches last year, did so to the other top four nations ranked. France, Ireland and South Africa all toppled the increasingly fragile looking All Blacks.
France currently sit third after being unbeaten so far in the 6 Nations. Fresh off thumping the All Blacks at the end of last year, they are a fast improving team and may just win a Grand Slam this weekend.
The autumn test series is shaping up to be fascinating. New Zealand take on Ireland in a 3 test series. This matchup should really provide a more accurate indicator of where both teams are at currently.
South Africa, will be taking on Wales for the Autumn test series. There are three matches currently lined up. South Africa will be heavy favourites for the tour. Although Wales did show a lot of fight against the French last weekend. However, the Springboks at home are a tough challenge for anyone in World Rugby.
France have two matches against Japan and one yet to be confirmed, while England take on Australia in a 3 match series.
The World Rugby rankings should have a more comprehensive estimation after the Northern and Southern Hemisphere teams clash this July.
