Leicester Tigers beat European champions Toulon at Welford Road

Brad Thorn rolled back the years as he scored a try for Leicester Tigers in their 25-21 victory over defending European champions Toulon at Welford Road. The win keeps their qualification hopes alive and ends the French sides nine-match winning streak.

Owen Williams kicked Leicester to victory as the only try of the game was scored by Thorn, still scoring tries at the now vintage age of 39-years-old. Williams picked up a personal points haul of 20, with his conversion and six penalties.

Bryan Habana and Drew Mitchell both scored well taken tries for Toulon, but it was Williams' Man of the Match performance with the boot that got the 2001 and 2002 champions the win.

Leicester Tigers' Richard Cockerill said that while winning at home is great, taking on the European champions in their own backyard in next weekend's Round 4 clash will be a massive challenge.

"It's a great win. It is the best we have probably played for 18 months," he said.

"It will be twice as hard to go there and win next week. Toulon will be really cheesed off, and it really doesn't get any more difficult than that."

Agree... Cockerill appears to me as the kind of guy who stamps his feet and spits out his dummy when he doesn't get his own way...

I despise soccer, but I've seen what appears to be clear incidents of foul play yet the penalised or free kicked (I don't know what the **** this game calls it!) teams coach is there shouting and hollering like a spoilt child, throwing his hands in the air and gesticulating like a complete ****, when everyone who is anyone can see that it was his player being a complete knob....

THAT, is what I feel Cockerill is doing to rugby...

    A) it is his livelihood and why not make what he can while he can

    B) if money was that big of a deal why did he pay his own cockerill?

    C) can't stand cockerill, adds fuel to the fire

You see that's what happens when players eat protein, creatine etc. on daily basis, play in tight fitting sponsor-tainted "match day shirts" or "player issue shirts" of the yearly atrocity and all of your teammates are brought in for money, doing swan dives and hugging each other like lonely football players.

Then the weak minded fellows of a team have outbursts like what Castrog had, like diarrhoea coming out of it's mouth it's spewing filth all over people who actually do hard work and don't earn millions of money. Please dissolve professional rugby and give me back the time when the dudes who played it had respect and didn't hang out their dirty for everyone to see. OK THANKS

Was rather hoping for a clip of the Castrogiovanni interview, where apparently he used the full Anglo-Saxon lexicon to describe Richard Cockerill.

Habana has still got it. At there was a good clip of Brad Thornes 'journey' (him training, in his gym, short life story...etc) about two months back it was good. Seems like a good hard working fit guy, fair play to him. I agree with the shit footage of the kickers lining up. Prefere to see big hits or turnovers... Etc

    - Someone needs to tell Drew Mitchell that Movember ended over a week ago.

    - Habana's try felt even more impressive with this commentary - Abannaaaaaaaaa, Abanaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!

    - Anyone putting together a highlights clip with over 20% of the footage taken up by close-ups of flyhalves lining up kicks should be shot immediately.

    - Brad Thorn's 39??? He won't get an easier try to finish off, but to be still playing at this level - let alone scoring tries - at that age is phenomenal.
