Ma'a Nonu back to form with brilliant individual try against Toulouse

Powerful Toulon midfielder and former All Black Ma'a Nonu was back to his best as he helped Toulon to an important Top 14 victory over Toulouse at the weekend. It was a score reminiscent of his try against the Wallabies in the 2015 Rugby World Cup final.

With the win, Toulon moved into the top six with a playoff spot looking like a real possibility.

Francois Trinh-Duc found Nonu just outside the 22m line and, like the Nonu of old, he looked world class with his run through and around the Toulouse defense.

He then used some nifty footwork and a trademark headfake to tie winger Paul Perez in knots before turning on the jets to score Toulon's last try of the day. It was an impressive individual effort, that helped Toulon to a 33-23 win.

Toulon continue their playoff push this weekend as they take on Castres, and they'll certainly be looking for Nonu to retain this form for the foreseeable future.

    He is very skilled, regardless

A nice step at the end, but the whole thing looks like a game of U11s, where the kid who developed before everyone else could cut aimlessly back inside and barrage his way to the try line.

I'd like to say that was some pretty poor defensive work there, but then when faced with someone like Nonu, you probably look worse than you actually are...
