Ma'a Nonu demonstrates range of tries ahead of possible World Cup selection

All Blacks legend Ma’a Nonu stepped up his World Cup selection campaign on Saturday with another two tries against the Chiefs in Super Rugby.

Nonu, who turns 37 next month, crossed the try line in the 58th minute when he took the ball at first receiver from the back of a scrum and powered past five Chiefs defenders.

He bagged his second try late on when, like the first try, he got the ball stood at first receiver. But instead of using raw strength the veteran demonstrated his delicate footwork to score the Blues’ fourth try of the match.

Nonu has 104 caps for New Zealand and although the Blues lost the game 33-29, his recent performances will certainly have put him on the radar for All Blacks selection for this year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.
