Mammoth tackle as two giant Polish forwards meet in Cup Final

A few weeks back this huge collision took place in the final of the Ekstraliga, Poland's top league for rugby. You may have come across it but we haven't featured it yet, and it really is a must see hit. It's been described as the 300kg clash, as these two giant men met in midfield.

The final was between two of the best teams in the league, Rugby Club Arka Gdynia and Budowlani SA Lodz. It was a close contest but Arka Gydnia came out on top, 24-19.

This tackle by Gdynia lock Mateusz Bartoszek, on massive prop Toma Mchedlidze, was clearly one of the highlights of the match. It looked a bit like gladiators colliding, as burly Mchedlidza, who looks like he spends his days chopping down trees while eating small children, took a well timed crash ball from his number ten.

Bartoszek was waiting though, and despite making the huge tackle, actually ended up in trouble, as the savage impact looked like it injured his arm or shoulder. Brutal.

    I'm going to bite...

    Are you a grandparent softened by the joys of seeing the little 'uns staggering about in their early years?

    I find it hard to believe that a front rower such as yourself, who played in the era that you did (I don't remember exactly when that was, but I know it was pre professional yes?) and be so; dare I say it, soft.....If you can possibly take that as a non offensive comment I would appreciate that because I'm not trying to be offensive, it's just all the front rows I've ever come across of the 'old era' are the kind of guys that would be wearing muzzles these days if it wasn't for the fact that they'd eaten far to many pies and pints (glass and all) throughout the years that they'd never catch anyone to actually give them a chomp....

    I mean you mention the law makers etc, your 'era' was some of the dirtiest, grungiest, dogged rugby there was, and you're moaning about two forwards clattering into each other.... Granted I wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of anything in the video above, (or caught in middle ground), but there has always been beasts clattering beasts...

    Another huge smash, another injured player .....skill/craft/guile/evasive cunning replaced in the pro game by smash/crash/crunch/break . Union lawmakers are culpable for continuing to drift towards RL, it may eventually settle looking more like MMA ! zzzzzzz
