British & Irish Lions and England centre Manu Tuilagi has apologised for making 'bunny ears' behind the back of David Cameron on Monday. The triumphant Lions squad were hosted by the Prime Minister to celebrate their 2-1 series victory in Australia.

As the squad asembled for a group photograph, Tuilagi ended up near Mr Cameron, and couldn't help himself. He later apologised for the gesture on Twitter, saying he was just messing around.

Tuilagi, who was described on Sky News this morning as 'not having a filter', was famously selected on the bench ahead of Brian O'Driscoll in the final, and deciding Test of the series.

Former England scrumhalf Matt Dawson wasn't impressed with Tuilagi. "My view on Tuilagi/PM. I'm utterly embarrassed. When will some learn, there's a time and a place,"  he Tweeted.

The powerful Samoan is still just 22-years-old, perhaps hard to believe after all he has already achieved for Leicester Tigers, England and now the Lions.

Earlier Cameron had praised the work that the Lions have done for the growth of the game in both the UK and Ireland, and said that his son just started playing tag rugby, mainly due to their success.

"It's a huge honour. My son, just because of you guys, has just started tag rugby. He will be so excited about this jersey," he said after being presented with a number ten Lions jersey.

He also took a bit of a swing at Rugby League, saying "I want to see many more people playing Rugby... even Rugby League if they have to."

It was the first time the squad had been together since arriving back in July.

my first reaction to this was to laugh, but then thinking about it, it is quite disrespectful. i think political allegience is blinding some people's view. if you are the guest at an event, you dont embarrass the host in public. its just bad manners.

    No cigar ? What's 'not British' about a v-sign at No. 10 ? (It's not a 'Harvey' : the palm is clearly facing outward ... :-)

Cameron tweeted back, "@Manutuilagi it was great to welcome you and the @lionsofficial team to No10. No need to apologise, I know it was just a bit of fun."

To which Tuilagi then replied; "Cheers for having a great sense of humour @David_Cameron always welcome around mine for dinner and to get me back!"

So looks like it was all taken in the right spirit anyway.

The Queen had her run in with another rugger already when O'Gara refused to shake her hand. CHeck and see if its on RD, if it isn't you can find it on YouTube.

Well this is a 50/50 one: maybe a yellow card but a penalty should be fine...

Some articles are saying Brian Moore called Tuilagi a prat. As a matter of my own personal opinion this is what he actually tweeted.

"Tuilagi - those of you saying you're offended; are you, are you really - isn't 'What a prat' the highest you can put it?"

Bit of harmless fun. If they only took one photo, well, maybe a bit silly but they were snapping away so why not have a laugh. Sure, if it was the Queen it might be seen as disrespectful considering she's an older lady but I would hope the prime minister could have a a laugh with the boys.

I know John Key would see the funny side of it but then he's special. Afterall, not every prime minister makes the list of top ten most awkward handshake moments

well, you could just go ahead and respect the person who is hosting you. applies to any occasion.

I bet if he did that back home in Samoa to someone who was a peer of his parents, he would have probably gotten a right smack.

Tuilagi should really know better. The appropriate way for victorious sportsmen to behave when invited to 10 Downing St is to water the rose garden.

Hopefully he gets an OBE or something in future, Buckingham Palace is even more ripe for harmless pranks.

Tuilagi just doesn't know how to act. He wasn't raised properly and it reflects on his parents.

But why should he respect the PM, he's not really British.

I think it's down to education really, Although what he did is of no real consequence and could perhaps be seen as humorous by some, he is a representative of the British and Irish Lions, England and the great team sport of Rugby so his individual action which was probably completely spontaneous could be interpreted in the wrong way by some and let everyone else down. If he wants to act like a kuhnob he should do it on his own time. Though this is nothing like when Ronan O'Gara refused to shake hands with the Queen and just stood in front of her with his hands in his pocket like some knacker. He represented Ireland and tried to make some personal statement. If he didn't like the Queen or what she represented then he shouldn't not have attended. He certainly didn't represent the vast majority of Irish people. Again I believe it's down to poor education and upbringing.

He was down to 85% but I gave him 11 yes-votes so he is temporarily back to 90%.

Not really smart but utterly harmless. Press is just making a big deal out of it. On a sunny side: even it the Netherlands rugby has some attention today!
