Midweek Madness - Rhys Patchell's 62m penalty kick vs Glasgow Warriors

Cardiff Blues back Rhys Patchell kicked a mammoth 62m penalty against Glasgow Warriors at the weekend as the Welsh side won 9-7 at Scotstoun. While they had Leigh Halfpenny to kick two penalties, it was the 20-year-old's effort from his side of the ten meter line that impressed the most.

We've seen a few huge kicks in recent years so while it's not incredibly rare, it's always good to see players push the boundaries of what we know to be possible. How long long will it be before someone gets a kick from 70m out?

Patchell is just 20-years-old, so with a few more years and a bit more bulk in those legs, we're sure to see a few more of these from him at some stage.

With the win, the Blues now have a chance of making the Quarter Final stages of the Heineken Cup, providing they are able to win away at Toulon, and then at home against Exeter.

Agree with DrG. Look at the flags of the linesmen. Very impressive nevertheless.

Look at the referee's shirt at the sort of 1:17-1:20 mark... looks to me as if the kick was WITH the wind, not against it...
